WO3 film, which is a widely studied inorganic electrochromic material, may be applied for the assembly of a smart window. As an electrochromic layer material, the light absorption change of tungsten trioxide film is caused by double injection/extraction of ions and electrons. Therefore, the performance of smart windows prepared using WO3 electrochromic film as an electrochromic layer is superior and stable. Then, what method can be used to prepare a tungsten trioxide electrochromic film for applying in an electrochromic window?

Vapor evaporation method. According to experts, the vapor deposition method is a common method for preparing an electrochromic film in an early experimental study. The tungsten oxide powder is evaporated by means of resistance heating, electron beam heating or the like to be deposited on the substrate. An inert atmosphere or a reaction atmosphere (such as oxygen or hydrogen) may be used, and the usual substrate is conductive glass or ITO/PET. The composition, structure and properties of the prepared tungsten trioxide electrochromic film depend primarily on the deposition parameters.
