Hydrated tungsten trioxide nanosheet can be applied to prepare electrochromic film. Some experts have used the seed-assisted method to prepare hydrated WO3 film. From the graph below - the optical density (OD) variation with respect to the charge density for as-prepared WO30.33H2O film measured at 632.8nm at different potentials, wherein a is -2.5V, b is -3.0V, it is found that:

The coloration efficiency of urea-induced hydrated WO3 nanosheet film at -2.5V and -3.0V was significantly higher than that of the film prepared without urea. The main reason was that the introduction of urea increased the porosity of the film material and made it have a larger lithium ion storage capacity. In addition, the coloration efficiency of the hydrated WO3 nanosheet film prepared by the urea-induced seed-assisted method is greatly improved compared with the WO3 film, the nano roll film, the nano particle film, the nano bar film or the nano sheet film reported in the literature. This is mainly due to the fact that the open porous structure formed between the hydrated WO3 nanosheets greatly increases the contact area with the electrolyte and the electrochemical reaction sites. And the hydrated WO3 layered structure provides an additional diffusion channel for the transport of ions.
