Ag-doped WO3 nano material can be prepared by thermal decomposition method using ammonium tungstate and silver nitrate as raw materials. The experimental results are as follows.

The XRD and SEM results show that the tungsten trioxide nano material belongs to the monoclinic phase with the grain size of about 100nm. The doped Ag has a discrete distribution in an amorphous state on the surface of the tungsten trioxide nano particles. The applied electric field has a significant effect on the photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B by Ag doped tungsten trioxide nano powder. The addition of appropriate voltage is beneficial to increase the catalytic activity of the photocatalyst and accelerate the photocatalytic reaction rate. However, excessive voltage can cause the WO3 nano particles to agglomerate, thereby reducing the photocatalytic activity of the material. The experimental results show that the photocatalytic effect is best when -5V is added.
