Launched Sunday on the outskirts of Shanghai, the FTZ is aimed at strengthening market-oriented reforms and lifting economic vitality. Investments banned from the FTZ include gold, silver, platinum, moly, tungsten, tin, antimony, rare earth, radioactive mining and ore selection. In the nonferrous metals smelting and processing sector, the zone is limited to investments in refined aluminum, copper, lead and zinc smelting.
