Orthorhombic tungsten trioxide can be used to prepare electrochromic film. Experts prepare hydrated WO3 electrochromic films of orthogonal phase under the conditions of crystal seed or without crystal seed. And they found:

There are significant differences in the nanostructure and surface morphology of the orthorhombic hydrated tungsten trioxide film. Moreover, the transmittance of the two dingal films is also significantly different. It can be seen from the UV-vis transmittance spectrum of the two films shown above that the transparency of the film prepared by the seed-assisted method is 30% higher than that of the film prepared without the crystal seed layer. And it may be because the WO3?0.33H2O electrochromic film with an irregular flower-like structure prepared under the seedless condition has stronger scattering of light, resulting in a larger haze of the film, and thus a lower transmittance. That is to say, the WO3 films prepared with or without crystal seed has different transmittance.
