As you may have known, tungsten trioxide, or WO3, is a transition metal oxide which has been successfully applied to the detection of gases such as H2S, CO, NH3 due to its excellent gas sensitivity. In order to make tungsten trioxide have better gas sensitivity, the researchers modified it by doping and other methods. Some experts used tungsten trioxide powder as a raw material and added a certain amount of Pt to prepare a side-heating gas sensor by solid phase sintering method. And they optimized the gas sensitivity of the WO3 material by adding different content of Pt. The test results showed that by doping 0.5% Pt powder into tungsten trioxide, the sensitivity of the prepared gas sensor enhanced nearly 8 times, the response time is reduced by about 60%, and the corresponding recovery time is reduced by nearly 88%.
